As an Emmy Award winning journalist, Lu Parker has worked in the television news business as an anchor, reporter, and entertainment show host for over a decade. Currently, she is the main weather anchor for Prime News at KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles. Lu has co-hosted the Hollywood Christmas Parade with Entertainment Tonight's Mark Steines. She also reported live from backstage at the 2007 Tournament of Roses Parade. Her performance on the show won Lu her second Emmy.

From 1996-98, Lu worked at the CBS affiliate (WCSC) in Charleston, South Carolina. She then moved to San Antonio to work with the Fox affiliate (KABB) where she held the position of main anchor. In 2003, the CBS affiliate in San Antonio (KENS) offered Lu the opportunity to create and host her own high energy entertainment program which became known as Great Day S.A.

A ninth grade English Literature teacher when she was crowned Miss USA 1994, Lu became just the third South Carolinian to capture the Miss USA title. Lu went on to represent the United States in the Miss Universe Pageant in Manila, Philippines, where she placed among the top six finalists. Lu recently landed a role as a t elevision reporter in the film Winged Creatures starring Oscar winner Forrest Whitaker. The film is set for release in 2008. You can also catch her in the film An American Carol set to release in 2009. Just last year, the CW Network hired Lu as a pageant expert for their new reality series Crowned. She has also appeared on several popular television shows such as ABC's Commander in Chief, the USA Network series Monk, and CBS's Shark.

Lu participates in the annual Mark Harmon Celebrity Baseball/Bowling Event. She is an avid golfer, and loves to shoot a shotgun. In fact, she took the top overall female award five years in a row at the Louise Mandrell Celebrity Shoot. In 1996, she carried the Olympic Torch through Georgia as part of the Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She has also appeared on several magazine covers including Runner's World. Lu was named Alumnus of the Year by the College of Charleston and Governor Carroll Campbell presented her with the Palmetto Award, the highest civilian honor given in the State of South Carolina. She has addressed both the Georgia and South Carolina General Assemblies, and has been recognized in the South Carolina Congressional Record two times as an outstanding South Carolinian.

Lu holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the College of Charleston, and a Master of Arts Degree in Education from the Citadel.
